The Greater Los Angeles Writers Society is a non-profit association dedicated to mentoring writers in the craft and business of writing. With a philosophy of "writers mentoring writers of all disciplines"

GLAWS holds monthly informative gatherings (Special Speaker Events) often with nationally-known guest speakers, manages genre-specific critique groups, makes industry experts available to offer advice in the craft and business of writing, conducts special events including writers conferences and seminars, and promotes its vision through many business and social opportunities. GLAWS also provides a continuing education and platform for the marketing of their work

The "greater" in our name refers to the general geographic area where most of our members are located, and not to any claims of "grandness." Yes, we welcome writers from all over California and the country to join our society. And yes, there is safety in numbers with an organization that has a wide variety of resources to support its membership. But, if we want to be known as "great" for anything, it's that our focus will always remain on our mission of "writers mentoring writers."
