The Greater Los Angeles Writers Society is a registered 501(c) non-profit association dedicated to mentoring writers in all genres and levels of expertise in the craft and business of writing.
GLAWS holds monthly informative gatherings (Special Speaker Events) often with nationally-known guest speakers, manages genre-specific critique groups, makes industry experts available to offer advice in the craft and business of writing, conducts special events including writers conferences and seminars, and promotes its vision through many business and social opportunities. GLAWS also provides a continuing education and platform for the marketing of their work.
GLAWS excels in many areas:
The "greater" in our name refers to the general geographic area where most of our members are located, and not to any claims of "grandness." Yes, we welcome writers from all over California and the country to join our society. In fact, we have members from San Diego to Seattle, from Canada to the midwest.
There is safety in numbers with an organization that has a wide variety of resources to support its membership. But, if we want to be known as "great" for anything, it's that our focus will always remain on our mission of "writers mentoring writers."
We welcome writers of all disciplines and levels, from aspiring students to best-selling authors, from industry professionals to simply anyone interested in learning more about the craft and business of writing.
