Gil Roscoe has had one-act plays produced at both The Attic Theatre and The Group Repertory Theatre in Los Angeles. His novel Company of Thieves was published by Kensington Books in 2001. Morgan St. James will guest on Vito Colucci’s Crime Time radio show on Business Talk Radio this Sunday, July 3, at 8:00 p.m. PST and 11:00 p.m. EST for a one-hour interview. It airs in several broadcast radio markets across the country as well as online. They discuss her upcoming new Silver Sisters Mystery, Vanishing Act in Vegas filled with twists and turns, plus capers to make you laugh out loud, and Las Vegas kitsch. The wacky Silver Sister twins are at it again, outshined only by their 80 year-old mother and uncle, former vaudeville magicians who love to dress in disguise and go undercover. They also discuss her new Writers’ Tricks of the Trade: 39 Things You Need to Know About the ABCs of Writing based upon her popular column in the Los Angeles and Las Vegas editions of www.examiner.com. The book will be released later this year. June 2011 Lisa Morton wins Superior Achievement Award for First Novel "The Castle of Los Angeles" at the Horror Writers Association's 2010 Bram Stoker Awards
Works can be recommended by any member of the HWA. Members with Active status then vote works onto a preliminary ballot. From there the field is narrowed to the final ballot and Active members choose the winners from that. The award is named for Bram Stoker, best known as the author of Dracula. Lisa is a prize winning poet, published writer,and professional editor. She has studied with author Carolyn See, Jim Krusoe, Jack Grapes, as well as taken courses on writing and copyedting through UCLA’s Writers Program. She has studied story structure with literary agent and consultant Lisa Cron and has conducted workshops for California State University Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Library, and is on staff at Santa Monica College Continuing Education. Lisa also puts out a newsletter once a month geared toward writing and editing--Wordsmith--A Short newsletter for readers & writers and the Occasional Fan of Charlotte Bronte. A section of the newsletter is devoted to Charlotte Bronte news and will also be including some words about Lisa's process in writing her novel-in-progress in which Bronte plays a part. Winning awards in not new to Darlene. May 2011 Brennan Harvey Wins International Writing Contest & Honored at Hollywood Gala GLAWS member Brennan Harvey from Huntington Beach, will be honored at the 27th Annual L. Ron Hubbard Achievement awards being held on Sunday, 15 May, at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, on Hollywood Blvd --first home of the Academy Awards. The event will celebrate the annual winners in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests, where Brennan was the 1st quarter, first place winner for this year, making it further than some several thousand others who entered the international competition, and where his winning story, Lies of Convenience will also be published in the bestselling Science Fiction anthology series – L. GLAWS member Lisa Marguerite Mora is conducting Hidden Wisdom Writing Workshop for five weeks in Venice at the Electric Lodge. The Tuesday evening workshop begins at 7 to 9:30 p.m. or so from April 26 thru May 24. The workshop offers improvisational writing exercises and an opportunity to bring in writing for feedback, optional homework assignments, as well as a schedule for constructive critique on a chapter from your novel, memoir,or on your essays and poetry.
